How can I prevent my email messages from going to the recipient's SPAM or Junk Folder?
Here are some basic rules to prevent email messages from going to the recipients SPAM or Junk Folder.

Do the following:
1. Ask your recipients to add YOUR EMAIL to their WHITELIST or to Opt In. You can do this in the store, over the phone, or by adding a Whitelist Message to the footer of your emails. NCR Customer Connect requires a Whitelist Message on Campaigns/Step 3 Edit Settings.

2. Include a Plain Text version of your email message. Some spam filters will mark your email as spam if a plain text version isn't included.

Do Not do the following:
3. From field - leave it empty or use a generic email address (ex: yahoo.com, gmail.com).

4. Subject Line:
  • leave subject text empty
  • write in ALL CAPS
  • start subject with Hello, Free, GUARANTEED, Buy or Buying, with a dollar sign or amount
  • use G.a.p.p.y. t.e.x.t, lots of spaces or underscores, spam, viagra, sex, etc
5. Body of email:
  • more than 70% of the email is blank lines
  • contains viagra, sex, prescriptions, information about body parts, impotence, any kind of porn
  • includes excessive punctuation ????, !!!!
  • includes excessive use of "click here"
  • font size of message is huge
  • font and background color are the same, appearing as invisible text
  • includes bright red or green font
  • includes one big image with little or no text
  • writing in ALL CAPS
  • created with poorly coded HTML
  • created using MS Word or FrontPage to create your HTML code
After following these basic rules, you can also use the SPAM Score on Campaigns/Step 7 Test Email to test your email message before sending it to recipients.
