Protect your Business! Coupons, Discounts & Rewards via email
What you need to know about delivering coupons, discounts and rewards via email.

One of the great benefits of email marketing is that you greatly expand your reach when your customers forward, share and post information about your business throughout the internet. If you are advertising a sale or offering a small discount you probably welcome when your message goes "viral".  The more forwards and printouts of your coupon the better! However, distributing high-value discounts or loyalty rewards via email must be done carefully. For example, a widely distributed 30% off coupon, or copied loyalty reward would NOT be a welcome situation.

When emailing high-value rewards or exclusive offers for specific customers, we recommend that you add clear restrictions for the redemption:
  • "Proof of ID required to redeem coupon"
  • "Loyalty ID required"
  • "Offer expires on 1/1/11"
  • "One discount per customer"
  • "Offer valid <insert date> to <insert date>"
  • "One coupon per person"
  • "Must present printed coupon at time of purchase"
  • "Electronic copies not valid. Duplicates not valid."

Train your cashiers to verify identity of the customer when redeeming coupons that were sent exclusively to a targeted customer group.
