There are Significant Changes to the IRS Tax Laws that Will Affect YOU!
This time of year I get many questions about the 179 Depreciation laws for tax purposes. As it’s presently written, companies may fully deduct up to $500,000 for certain equipment (as described in the appropriate tax section 179) purchased and placed into service in 2013.
The important change for 2014, is this amount drops to $25,000. In addition, there is a bonus depreciation amount that allows another 50% of the cost of equipment to be deducted for taxes in 2013 but as of today; Congress has not extended this into 2014!
These two changes are significant through December 31, 2013 for taking advantage of the higher Section 179 and bonus depreciation rules!
