The days are warming up, weekends are filled with celebrations, and spring's bounty is appearing at the markets. It's not too late to sign up for Nichol's Farm CSA with convenient weekly pickup at Marcel's. Glen Ellyn's vibrant Sunday French Market returns for the season on May 24th.

WINES & FINDS
Taste, Explore & Celebrate! Sample a curated collection of wines paired with complimentary bites at the third annual Wines & Finds. Begin at the registration spot listed on your ticket and receive your own commemorative glass with a map of participating businesses and their food and wine pairings. Each store will offer two selections to taste and all wines will be available to order to pickup on a future date. Purchase your ticket for $30 in advance at Marcel's - only 150 will be sold! HOUSEWALK
Marcel's is thrilled to dress the tables again for this year's Glen Ellyn Infant Welfare's Annual Housewalk! Tour four unique and beautiful homes from 10 am - 2 pm & 5 pm - 9pm. Marcel's is happy to host Ali Graeme of Sweet Ali's Gluten Free Bakery in Hinsdale. Learn how to whip up delectable baked goods sans gluten, both sweet and savory from the experts. Q&A WITH CHEF KELLY SEARS
Favorite Spring Activity: Bringing the canning kettle up from the basement and determining what spring harvest is headed for the water bath first.
 
West Suburban Gem: Town House Books, an independent bookstore with an attched cafe in St. Charles. It’s a small place with a neighborhood vibe. They serve homemade soup and sandwiches with a twist and they have a counter with baked goods under a glass domed pie plate.  I love that.
 
Favorite Book: The Language of Baklava by Diana Abu-Jaber

Favorite Food Destination: 
Boulder, Colorado
 
Guilty Pleasure: I rarely feel guilty about anything I eat, but adding a poached egg to any dish makes the dish feel more indulgent to me.  Plus it’s not my husband’s thing so whenever he’s out, that’s what I make myself.
 
Current Recipe Project:  I just had a conversation with a chef about bread making and it got me excited about yeast again. That’s funny, isn’t it?!  But bread making is something I really enjoy yet don’t spend enough time at.
 
Where is your favorite spot to dine when you’re looking to treat yourself and for when you want something casual and no-frills? For a treat: Venison Burgers at the The Gage, Bing Bread at Parachute, any pasta on the menu at The Kitchen and Empanadas at La Sirena Clandestina. The fresh & flavorful dishes of one of my favorite chefs Paul Virant never disappoint. For no frills, my husband and I love the ramen at Oiistar.
