About Our Extensive Tea Selection
With the onset of cooler weather, warming drinks can be most appealing. What better time then to discover the unique array of teas at Ithaca Coffee Company. You may have noticed the large section of shelves at our Triphammer store with over 60 varieties of tea. It's really worth a look! You can also find a good selection of teas at our Gateway store, and of course you can order them from our website as well. Our selection is too extensive to list here, but the variety of teas include the categories of Black, Green, Herbal, Flavored, Oolong, as well as Pu-erh teas.
It's hard to believe that so many varieties of tea all come from the same basic tea plant, the Camellia Sinensis. For the most part white tea, yellow tea, green tea, oolong, pu-erh tea and black tea are all harvested from this species, but are processed differently to attain different levels of oxidation.
We also package a number of rooibos teas, mate teas, and herbal infusions, some of which contain little or no caffeine, and a number of decaffeinated green and black teas as well.
On each of our custom tea labels is a short description of the tea contained; here are just a few:
Darjeeling Summer: The summer harvest from the Sungma Estate. Muscat flavor, bright aromatics, and sweet finish.
Ceylon: Bright, medium bodied tea with citrus aroma from the Kenilworth Estate, in the Kandy region of Sri Lanka.
Assam: Rich, bold black tea from the Meleng Estate, Assam, India.
Lapsang Souchong: Pine wood smoked tea from Wuyi, Fujian, China.
Dragonwell: Refreshingly smooth, sweet, delicate, light bodied. Hangzhou, China.
NEW TEA THIS WEEK-Black Rwanda Rukeri: This tea is full bodied, malty, and robust with balanced astrigency. Aroma has notes of biscuits and fruit.
