Friday

Critique
(East – Friday 1:00pm-1:45pm)

"How can I get better?" That's the question at the heart of this seminar.  For the first time at the East Side, we're offering the opportunity to get some constructive criticism in an informal environment from a group of photographers.  Bring an image in digital form to be displayed and critiqued - we'll talk about the aspects you nailed and suggest ways the shot could be improved.  All genres and skill levels welcome.

Introduction to Night Photography
(East – Friday 2:00pm-3:00pm)

Add a fun new dimension to your hobby! Come learn the basics of night photography. You'll get tips on how to select an ISO, shutter speed, and aperture to successfully achieve interesting results. We'll also teach you how to make the most of the camera gear you already own.

Street Photography Basics
(East – Friday 3:15pm-4:15pm)

Real-life moments, unscripted scenes, interesting people - this is what street photography is all about.  This seminar will provide an overview of the strategies, techniques, equipment, and mindset necessary for this fascinating style of photography.  We'll also discuss the ethical issues associated with the genre.

Lightroom Essentials
(East – Friday 5:00pm-6:15pm)

Post-processing demystified!  We'll walk you through an entire editing workflow - import, edit, and export - fielding questions along the way.  Tips and secrets galore in this informational seminar on Adobe's powerful and streamlined image editing software.

Rountable Discussion/Share a Picture
(East – Friday 6:30pm-7:30pm)

Back again is our round table discussion on any and all things photography - gear, principle, technique.  Want to talk Nikon?  Need help deciding on your next lens?  Maybe you're a little fuzzy on focus modes or just want some tips on how to shoot this or that.  Let's chat!

As an added bonus, please feel free to bring any photo you've taken in digital form to display and talk about.  This isn't a critique, it's just sharing photos and stories - because the best part of a photograph isn't always the image alone, but the story behind it.  We'll be interspersing these images throughout the roundtable discussion.

Saturday

Inside and Out: Macro Hardware
(East – Saturday 10:00am-12:00pm)

Introduction to Sports Photography
(East – Saturday 12:45pm-2:00pm)

Tired of missing shots? Let us give you the basic information you need to capture better action photos. Learn how to control the effect of motion with shutter speed, how to get sharp pictures by utilizing your camera's advanced auto focus modes, and how to deal with the difficult lighting conditions associated with both indoor and nighttime sports.  Bring any questions you've got for instructors that have shot a wide array of sports.
