Swiss-Links Spotlight 
In Honor of National Donate Life Month 
 This Month We Spotlight our Production Manager.
Glenn Brandt 
President & Plant Manager
Swiss Meat & Sausage Co.
Employed at Swiss Meats for 27 year. 

Glenn’s first job outside of working on the farm, was stocking shelves and bagging food at the checkout counter for customers at Loutre Market in Hermann, MO. He attended East Central College in Union and became an Emergency Medical Technician. He worked for the Hermann Ambulance District from 1993-1999, and has served on the Ambulance Board since 2002. He is also a member of the Hermann Volunteer Fire Department and serves as their treasurer.

Glenn believes one of the most influential persons in his life has been Orville Heberle. Orville taught him how to make sausage. This moved Glenn’s career down a different path. He grew to love the art of sausage making. He joined the team at Swiss Meat on August 7, 1985, where he first worked on the slaughter floor, before moving to the sausage kitchen where he became the head sausage maker. 

Today, Glenn serves as both the President and Production Manager of Swiss Meat & Sausage Company, where he oversees the day to day production operations of the plant.

In his spare time, he enjoys working with his sons, Michael and Gregory in their cattle business, and cutting grass in the summer season.

Glenn and his wife of 35 years, Carol, have raised two extraordinary sons who have taken the love of the cattle industry that their parents instilled in them to heart as they carry on the Brandt Beef Farm.

A very important fact to know about Glenn is that he received a kidney transplant on October 27th, 1989. After being on kidney dialysis for 5 ½ years, it was discovered that his sister, Carol was a perfect match! It’s now been 28 years, and both Glenn and his sister Carol are doing great. They were each blessed with two sons. They both work hard and  enjoy life.

Glenn says he is “grateful to his sister for the sacrifice of giving up one of her kidneys for him.”

April IS  National Grilled Cheese Month
This gooey goodness is my favorite grilled cheese sandwich. 
Recipe makes four Sandwiches. 

*Blue Cheese Spread: Cream all ingredients together,1 cup crumbled blue cheese,1 package (8 ounces) cream cheese, softened, ¼ cup chopped Shallots, ½ cup Mayonnaise, 1/4 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon white pepper.

1.Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown set bacon aside.

2. Sauté onions in bacon fat until lightly browned set aside.

3. Prepare Blue cheese Spread *

4. Butter one side of each piece of bread. 

5. Spread the  blue cheese mixture on other side of the four pieces of buttered bread.

6. Layer each sandwich with 1/4 of bacon & 1/4 of grilled onions. 

7. Top with Swiss Cheese and slice of buttered bread, butter side out. 

8. Grill on both Sides till brown and cheese is melted.
