This Saturday
Test Your Measuring Skills
Can YOU accurately measure a cup of flour?

Time and time again we hear that the only accurate and precise way of measuring for cooking and baking is by weight. Alton Brown even made a video about why it’s so important, and what to look for when shopping for a good kitchen scale (watch it here: http://www.foodnetwork.com/videos/altons-kitchen-tools-scales-0186745.html).

Come and test your cup-measuring skills this Saturday! Can you accurately scoop a cup of flour using a volumetric measuring cup? You can win 10% off* your purchase that day if you can match the accuracy of a scale!

The Art of Arti
Escali Arti Digital ScaleThere’s a lot to love about this compact scale. Capable of weighing both liquid and dry ingredients up to a max of 15 lbs in 0.1 ounce or 1 gram increments. The easy to read oversized display sits squarely between the touch sensitive controls instead of buttons, resulting in a smooth easy-to-clean glass surface.

Other notable features include the Display Hold, which will weight measurements on screen when weighing large items, even after they’ve been removed from the scale. Use the Tare feature to reset the scale to zero weight to measure multiple items or subtract the weight of a container.

To help conserve and extend battery life, the scale will automatically turn off after five minutes of inactivity.

Hand Blending
Braun MultiQuick 5Braun’s MultiQuick 5 Hand Blender fits comfortably in your hand, to quickly and easily blend, whip, and puree soups, batter, smoothies, and more!

This multi-use tool is bound to be indispensable in your kitchen. In addition to its high-precision German engineered (350 watt) motor, the durable stainless steel blades and unique bell-shaped blending shaft provide fast and fine blending results. Whether you’re looking to make fluffy mashed potatoes, whipped cream, or puree soups and batters, there’s a Braun attachment designed to the job (Beaker and Whisk attachments included).

Our favorite use for this hand-blender is pureeing roasted butternut squash soup, right in the pot! (See recipe below)

Butternut Squash Soup with Leeks
In this recipe, they suggest moving the cooked solids to a food processor to puree. If you’re using an immersion blender, though, you can save yourself some extra dishwashing and just puree the soup right in the cooking pot!
