We take pride in our Unique selection of teas sourced from around the world. It's hard to believe that so many varieties of tea all come from the same basic tea plant, the Camellia Sinensis. For the most part white tea, green tea, oolong, and black tea are all harvested from this species, but are processed differently to attain different levels of oxidation. The results are an extraordinary variety of tea types and flavors.
For this newsletter we decided to highlight three very unique teas that we carry in our stores:
Big Red Robe Oolong
Also known as Da Hong Pao. This oolong is harvested late spring and roasted several times over a period of months. It combines a satifying body with tastes of spring honey and nori. Origin: Wu Yi Shan, Fujian Province, China
Gong Fu Cha
Gong Fu, which translates to "doing something well", is a style of tea processed for Gong Fu Cha, the chinese tea ceremony. The leaves are heavily oxidized to bring out wonderful floral, honey, and sweet malt flavors. Balanced, medium body.Origin: Danjia Zhai, Cangyuan County, Lincang Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China
Rwanda Black
An often neglected growing region, Africa produces several high-grade black teas. Our offering, from Rwanda, is a perfect example of one such tea. Caramel, malty, and woodsy with a light body.
