March snow .... we're ready

We're used to this crazy Idaho weather .... and a little cold and snow won't slow us down!

New plants are arriving in the nursery almost daily - ready to Spring into your garden!

 Fresh Herbs / Veggies

Get ready to start cool season veggies, either by seed or with starts - we have delicious and unusual selections available!  Limited on space? Plant up some lettuce/kale bowls, or grab one to go!
Chicks and Hens

Toss 'em anywhere and they will thrive here in the Treasure Valley!  From a hot slope, to a shady nook - these plants add texture, color, and conversation to any garden.
  Hellebores Galore

Also called the Christmas Rose or Lenten Rose, depending on their bloom time, these beauties absolutely love to live in the Treasure Valley in our wonderful clay soil.  They appreciate a shady spot in the garden or container.

GARDENER TIPS:

In the House
With more light each day, your houseplants will start pushing new growth and benefit from a time-release fertilizer or quick action liquid fertilizer. Consider using both if your plant could use a little kick-start into Spring.

In the Garden
Ready to add Spring bloomers or cool season crops to your garden boxes, containers and beds? Make sure to invest in some "frost fabric" to cover them during these cold nights and keep them growing!

For additional assistance or if you have questions, please feel free to stop in or give us a call.

If you love fresh fruits and berries, Madeline George offers an assortment of berry bushes and fruit trees that not only offer an element of beauty into your garden, they provide healthy snacks that have been used for medicinal purposes for centuries
...  not to mention they are delicious!
Blueberries are ranked #1 in antioxidant health benefits in comparison with more than 40 other fresh fruits and vegetables and a 1/2 cup provides 2 grams of dietary fiber and 10% of the daily recommended intake of vitamin C (yet only tallies about 44 calories).  The blueberry is native to North America, and people have been eating blueberries for more than 13,000 years.  To grow blueberry bushes in the Treasure Valley, a garden needs plenty of acidic soil and plants do best with morning sun and afternoon dappled light.  They can be grown in the ground, but also perform well in pots.  When planting blueberry bushes, it is best to plant two or more varieties to enhance cross-pollination and produce the best crop.
Cherries have been consumed by humans since the Stone Age, and are a stone fruit that belongs to the rose family.  In 600 BC, China considered the cherry a prized food fit only for royalty.  English colonists brought cherries to North America in the 1600s, and there are over 1000 varieties growing in the US today.  Cherry trees bloom early, offer beautiful color, and are a Spring favorite.  These trees love full sun and average garden soil.  Cherries, just like blueberries, perform best when cross-pollinated with another variety.
We carry a variety of blueberry bushes, as well as some fruiting cherry trees.  Be on the look-out for Raspberries and Honeyberries as we March into Spring.
