10 Steps to a Healthy Contact List
The most important element of an effective email marketing program is connecting with your customers. There are several ways you can do this, both in your brick and mortar store and online. Making it easy for customers to subscribe can help you to build your contact list and continue to grow it over time. STEP 1 and STEP 2 are particularly important for making the most of NCR Customer Connect!

Step 1. Ask customers shopping in your store if they want to receive specials, new offers and promotions via email while you are ringing up their purchases. Check out Quickly capture Customer Email Addresses at the NCR Counterpoint POS.

Step 2. Make it easy for online shoppers and visitors to subscribe to your newsletter. Check out Adding a Subscribe option to Your Website, Subscribing CPOnline Shoppers and How to add 'Lists' or 'Areas of Interest' to Your Subscribe Page.

Step 3. Include brief information about subscribing to your store’s e-mails at the bottom of receipts. Let customers know where to go to sign up and start receiving your e-mails.

Step 4. Set a notepad on the counter where customers can sign up even if they don’t make a purchase. Then add the addresses to NCR Customer Connect via a spreadsheet. Check Out How to import contacts using an Excel Spreadsheet.

Step 5. Create a monthly contest. Advertise in your store to let people know that if they sign up, they have a chance to win a gift certificate from your store.

Step 6. Place decorative displays highlighting your e-mail program throughout your store. This can either be done with larger, bolder signs or more subtly with framed promotions set on tables or shelves throughout your store.

Step 7. Include a call to action in your e-mail signature asking people to sign up for your newsletter or e-mail list.

Step 8. Create small flyers promoting your e-mail program and place them in your shopping bags. Let people know all the ways that they can connect with your brand, whether it be becoming a fan on Facebook or sending you their e-mail address.

Step 9. Produce a video telling people why they should subscribe to your store’s e-mails and what value they will see from doing so. Place this video on your store’s website or Facebook page.

Step 10. Integrate a signup form into your business’s Facebook page. Ask your fans or followers on social media networks to subscribe. Promote your store and your newsletter on your Facebook or Twitter pages.
