Frequently asked questions:

Q: I'm new to NCR Smart Alerts, how many alerts should I sign up for?

A: We suggest that while you're learning the NCR Smart Alerts system that you only sign up for those alerts that will be most helpful for your business. This will give you an opportunity to learn when and how often the alerts will be delivered based on your daily business cycles. As you become more experienced with NCR Smart Alerts you can add additional alerts and adjust the parameters.

Q: Is there help information available for a particular alert?

A: Help information is available for each alert. From the Alerts page, click on the desired alert from the list of alerts. Once you have selected the desired alert, click on the alert name in the edit panel below the list of alerts. Clicking on the alert name will display a popup window that contains help information for that particular alert, including a more detailed description, parameter descriptions, schedule information, and alert examples.

Q: I'm getting the same alert every 15 minutes. Why?

A: There are certain alerts that check for the same condition every 15 minutes. If you're receiving the same alert every 15 minutes, you may have the alert parameters set too low. You may want to consider increasing the alert parameters (amount, percentage, time) so that the alert is not triggered as often.

Some alerts, like the Cash in Drawer alert, will not be triggered until an action (e.g., cash drop) occurs.

Q: If my cell phone provider isn't supported, is it still possible for me to receive alerts via SMS text messages?
