Tips for using the Text Editor
The text editor is a tool that translates your text content into HTML code that can be read in an email or web page.

Can I copy and paste my content from Word or another application directly into NCR Customer Connect's text editor?
The short answer is No.
Word documents and other applications like Outlook contain formatting designed to be understood by other Microsoft Office programs, so they may not be compatible with NCR Customer Connect's text editor. They sometimes create excessive formatting problems which can result in unexpected behavior while using the text editor.

The long answer is Yes.
With the addition of the new text editor (1/21/2012) you can copy and paste content from Word, as long as you use the "Paste from Word" icon. It's also possible to use data from other applications if you prepare the content first. To prepare it, view the tips below.

Note: The text editor allows you to copy content from Word, but all content may not work the same as it does in the Word application. Please preview your emails before sending them so you can make the necessary modifications. Here are some additional tips for using the text editor:

1. Simply copy the content from another application into Notepad (or Text Edit for Mac users - make sure it's in "plain text" mode), which removes all the formatting (bold, italics, font sizes, etc). Then copy the content from Notepad into NCR Customer Connect. Once the data is in the text editor, reformat any data that needs formatting (bold, italics, font sizes, etc). This is the "cleanest" way to move content from another application into NCR Customer Connect.

2. If you prefer to write your content in another application prior to pasting it in the text editor, use a plain text application like Notepad. Just type your text in Notepad, don't worry about formatting it until you paste it into the text editor. To access Notepad from your desktop, click on Start/Programs/Accessories/Notepad.

3. When copying the text from another location, use the right mouse button and select copy.  To paste the content into NCR Customer Connect's text editor use the right mouse button and select paste.

4. Paste the text using the "Paste as Plain Text" option in the text editor. Click here for additional information and navigate to the "Paste as Plain Text" option.

5. If the first two tips do not work, try copying all the content out of the NCR Customer Connect text editor and paste it into Notepad.  Then delete all content in the text editor and click on "Remove Format" button (located to the left of the Source button) and save.  Now copy the content placed into Notepad back into the text editor as seen in # 2 and format the content as you'd like it to appear in the email message.

Note: If you are familiar with HTML click on the HTML icon, found on the text editor, to verify the format of your content.
