Content Delivery Network (CDN) Setup for Image Hosting
NCR Customer Connect now hosts images on a Content Delivery Network (CDN), speeding up the delivery of images in your email and providing an image URL that's easier to remember and read. Before you can start storing and using images on the CDN you must create a name for your root folder. To begin, navigate to the Manage/Images tab to setup your root folder. The name selected is normally some version of your company name and will show up as part of the image's URL. For example, http://ncrcdn.com/company-name/cc/coupon.png.

There are a few rules you must follow when creating a folder name:
1) Names must be between 3 and 63 characters in length.
2) Names may only contain numbers, dashes (-), and lowercase letters. If uppercase is used, it will be converted to lowercase when saved.
3) Names must not begin with or end with a dash or have two dashes in a row.

Create a folder name that is as specific as possible (ie. "camptown-sports"). Using generic names like "sports" may already be in use by another merchant.

After selecting ADD FOLDER, it may take a few minutes for your images to move to the CDN - depending on the number of images you have stored in NCR Customer Connect. A message, seen in the bottom right hand side of your screen, will notify you: * Your images are being moved to the CDN and will appear shortly. Pressing the REFRESH button will display the images as soon as they have been moved.
Note: You may upload new images to the CDN while the current images are being moved.

After adding your folder, uploading and selecting images behave the same as it did before.
Although image names may only contain the following on the CDN:
  • letters
  • numbers
  • dashes
  • periods
  • underscores

If you haven't completed the steps above and attempt to add an image on Campaigns/Step 6 Edit Content, you'll find a message and link within the Select Image window stating you must set up access to the CDN first. Please click on the link provided and follow the instructions to set up your folder on the CDN and return to the campaign later to add your images.

Note: Images are locked as soon as an email using them is scheduled. Locked images cannot be deleted because they are in use.  If you'd like to modify a locked image you will need to make a copy of it first. To copy an image select Edit and choose Save As (Save is not permitted on a locked image) to save the image with a new name. Changes can now be made to the new image.
